Zvannieki is a non-government, privately funded organization. It is not an orphanage, but an Alternative Family Home that is run by volunteers. Zvannieki supports children in need, that mostly hail from rural areas of Latvia. Most of the children are from impoverished families and have been abused. In situations of crisis these children have been removed from their homes and Social Services were forced to find a foster family or place the children in an orphanage. Social Services requested that we take in some of these children. The Zvannieki team is working hard to reestablish the feeling of home, family and security for these children. We believe it to be a sacred duty to love these children and to give them a sense of family as it should be. Some of the children had never been hugged or encouraged. With these new experiences and support we are providing them with a chance for a healthy and productive future. With your help and support we can accomplish miracles for these children.
